Durst, Neil A. (27 March 1926 – 21 May 1981) With Flag
Neal A. Durst, 55, of Rudolph died of a heart attack on Thursday, May 21, while
at work in Wisconsin Rapids.
The deceased was born on March 27, 1926, in the Town of Foster in Clark County
to Roy and Janie (Lightfoot) Durst. He received his education at the Lone Pine
School and graduated from Humbird High School. He served with the U.S. Marines
from 1945 for 3 1/2 years. He then farmed with his brother, Raymond, for a time.
He was then employed by Plautz Brothers Construction for several years. For the
last 20 years, he was employed by A&B Plumbing of Rudolph as a journeyman
plumber.
On April 23, 1966, he married June Shear. Surviving him, besides his wife, are
three stepchildren, Tom Shear of Stevens Point, Elona Johnson of Denver, Co.,
and Brenda Walczak of Wis. Rapids; four brothers, Virgil of Osseo, James and
Ivan of Neillsville and Raymond of Fairchild; seven sisters, Mrs. Alvin (Ethel)
Schutte, Mrs. William (Eva) Kurasz, Mrs. Henry (Vivian Schutte, all of
Neillsville, Mrs. Rolla (Dorothy) Seif of Fairchild, Mrs. Edwin (Leone) Scholze
of Humbird, Mrs. Walter (Betty) Marg of Black River Falls and Mrs. Clarence
(Ella Jean) Scholze of Rudolph; plus six step-grandchildren. He was preceded in
death by his parents.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 23, from the Taylor Funeral Home in
Wisconsin Rapids, with the Rev. Gary Straughan of the Wisconsin Rapids Moravian
Church officiating. Burial was made in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Wisconsin
Rapids.
