Rev. Douglass R. Groenewold, a native of Spencer, was installed as pastor of St.
John’s Lutheran Church in Withee and Trinity Lutheran Church in Greenwood at
services Sunday.
The rite of installation was performed by the Rev. Henry Simon of Appleton. Rev.
David Pankow of Colby gave the sermon and Rev. David Wenger of Greenwood was
liturgist.
Following the installation service a reception was held in the Withee Church
basement.
Rev. Groenewold received his B.A. degree from Concordia Senior College, Fort
Wayne, Indiana, in 1963, and continued his studies for the ministry at Concordia
Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. From 1967 to 1972 he served as an evangelistic
missionary in New Guinea. He has been studying at Concordia Seminary since his
return to the United States.
