Drescher, Mary (13 June 1981)

Mary Drescher and Jim Allen VandeBerg were united in marriage on Saturday afternoon, June 13, at Neillsville United Methodist Church services conducted by the Rev. William Noble. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Robert Drescher, Rt. 1 Neillsville, and Mr. and Mrs. John VandeBerg, Rt. 2 Granton.

Ann Knutson of Granton was the maid of honor. She was joined by Mrs. Mike Pasciak, Barb VandeBerg and Annette Buettner, all of Granton, and Karyn Drescher, Neillsville. Gordon Anding of Granton was bestman. He was joined by Jim Drescher and Paul Drescher, both of Neillsville and Ron Martin and Bobby VandeBerg, both of Granton. Ushering were Kenneth Friemoth of Neillsville and Terry VandeBerg of Granton.

Special music was presented by Joanne Grassman and Glenn Moede.

The bride chose a town in the Queen Anne style of sheer Organza and featuring Chantilly lace, lantern sleeves, sunburst pleated insert for the skirt and cathedral-length train. Her picture hat was of matching lace and her lace-edged veil was in cathedral length. She carried a bouquet of rose buds, daisies and baby’s breath. Her attendants wore blue organza gowns with bustle skirts. Each carried a parasol and wore baby’s breath in their hair.

Following the wedding a dinner was held in the church fellowship hall, which was followed by a dance at the Loyal American Legion Hall. The rehearsal dinner was held on Friday evening, June 12, at the Yellow River Inn.

The bride is a 1980 graduate of Granton High School and is a waitress at the Yellow River Inn, rural Marshfield. The groom is a 1979 graduate of Granton High and is engaged in farming. The new Mr. and Mrs. VandeBerg will make their home on Rt. 1 Neillsville.
