Clark Co-Area Tech Students Do Well (1981)

Numerous area men and women attend colleges, universities and technical schools across the nation. Often those schools announce when area student gain academic honors, participate in special campus activities, receive laurels for school activities or announce intentions to attend college or technical school.

In the recent announcements, by school, were:

UW-Madison— On the dean’s list at the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences for the spring semester were Debra Edwards, a meat and animal science major from 105 South Main St., Greenwood; and Jean Verschay, an agriculture extension education major from Greenwood.

Receiving recognition for high academic achievement and contributions to the cam\pus community at a school of Education reception was Catherine Burghardt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clint Burghardt, 303 Oakwood Place, Merrillan. Catherine received a Helen Pfuderer Smith scholarship.

Recently registering for the fall semester at the Madison campus was Virginia Kuhn, Rt. 1 Neillsville, who plans on majoring in political science.

Making the College of letters and Science dean’s list for the second semester was Robert Edwards, a linguistics major of 105 South Main St., Greenwood.

Named to the second semester dean’s list for the College of Education were Eileen Heiman, for an elementary education major from Rt. 4 Neillsville; and Catherine Burghardt, a physical education major of Merrillan.

On the dean’s list at the College of Engineering for the spring semester were Gary Kohlnhofer, an electrical engineering major of Rt. 3 Greenwood; and David Collins, a mechanical engineering major from Merrillan.

Pillsbury Baptist Bible College, Owatonna, Minnesota— Named to the dean’s list for the second semester was Sharon Embke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Embke, Rt. 1 Neillsville.

UW-Eau Claire—Recently initiated into Alpha Lambda Delta, a national honorary scholastic fraternity for freshman students, were Kim Makie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Makie, East Second St. Neillsville; and Jill Zoromski, Thorp.

St. Cloud State University, Minnesota— Recently earning a BA degree was John Haugen of Neillsville. He received summa cum laude honors.

Wisconsin Indianhead Technical Institute— Graduation held on May 28 showed that Thomas Kren, Neillsville, had completed dairy herd management studies.

UW-Whitewater— Named to the dean’s list for the second semester was senior Douglas Moennig, Rt. 1 Neillsville. The university also presented the 1981 Award for Excellence in Language Studies to Susan Ollech and Richard Sprague, both of Neillsville and recent graduates of Neillsville High School.
