Werner, Erich F. (8 September 1895 – 6 June 1981)
A resident of the Neillsville area for the past six years, Erich F. Werner, 85,
passed away on Saturday evening, June 6, in Neillsville Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services for Werner, who made his home on Rt. 2, were held on Tuesday
afternoon, from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Norman W.
Lindloff officiating. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery with
arrangements made by the Gesche Funeral Home. (Mr. Werner was a member of the
St. John’s congregation.)
The deceased was born on September 8, 1895, in Marathon County to Albert and
Marie (Hamann) Werner. After receiving his education, he remained in Marathon
County (Town of Wein), working as a farmer until retiring in 1959. During this
time, he married Katherine Hirning in November 18, 1925, Edgar Ceremonies. Upon
retirement, the Werner’s moved to Nekoosa where they made their home for 16
years and then moved to Neillsville.
Surviving Werner, besides his wife, is a daughter, Mrs. Lyle (Irma) Aderhold,
Neillsville; two sisters, Mrs. Dora Reichal and Mrs. Laura Mayer, both of
Appleton; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in
death by a son, Leslie and several brothers and sisters.
