Sommerlund, Hans (20 March 1891 – 20 June 1981)
Funeral services for Hans Sommerlund, 90, were held on Tuesday afternoon, June
23, from the Gilbertson Funeral Home in Granton. Sommerlund of Rt. 2 Marshfield,
passed away in his home on Saturday afternoon, June 20. Rev. William Noble of
the Granton United Methodist Church officiated at the service. Burial was made
in the Nasonville Cemetery.
The deceased was born on March 20, 1891, in Denmark. He moved to the United
States after his education. On October 14, 1916, he married Minna Hermansen in
Cedar Rapids, Iowa, ceremonies. Two years later, they moved to the Lindsey area
where he farmed until his death.
Surviving him is one son, William, Dike, Iowa; six daughters, Mrs. Mervin
(Agnes) Helling of Neillsville, Mrs. David (Esther) DeBarge of Milwaukee, Mrs.
Lee (Hilda) Friedl of Lindsey, Mrs. Verlyn (Irene) Erickson of Washington state,
Mrs. Floyd (Mae) Schultz of Pittsville and Mrs. George (Marian) Ducsay of Chili;
two brothers in Denmark; 20 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife (June 19, 1960), five brothers and one
sister.
