St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby was the setting for the September 8, 1973 wedding of Miss Marilyn Jane Bartnik, daughter of Mrs. Agnes Bartnik of Colby and the late Frank Bartnik, and Larry Reuben Hass, son of Mrs. Richard Herrmann of Colby and the late Reuben Hass.

The 1:30 p.m. ceremony was performed by the Rev. Louis Dietrich, and the nuptial music was provided by Mrs. Alois Gabriel, the organist, and St. Mary’s Children’s Choir.

Escorted to the altar by her brother, Charles Bartnik, the bride appeared in a white gown of sheer organza with full bishop sleeves, scoop neckline, empire waist and full skirt, all trimmed with Chantilly lace and baby seed pearls. A chapel length mantilla veil edged with Chantilly lace completed her ensemble. She carried a bouquet of pink roses, white daisy poms and baby’s breath.

Miss Sharon Fenske of Dorchester was maid of honor and Miss Mary Helfert of Dorchester was the bridesmaid. They were attired in mint green sheer organza dresses with empire waistline, plain bodice and full velroy flowered print skirt. Each carried a basket of mixed flowers, daisy poms and baby’s breath.

Richard Bartnik of Colby was best man and James Stuttgen of Colby was groomsman. David Martens of Unity and Eugene Bartnik of St. Paul, Minnesota seated the guests.

Following the nuptial ceremony, a reception, dinner and dance were held at Dorchester Memorial Hall.

The bride is a 1972 graduate of Colby High School, and is employed at the Tribune-Phonograph in Abbotsford. Her husband graduated from Colby High School in 1969, and Wausau Technical Institute in 1971. He is engaged in farming at Route 1, Colby, where the couple is making their first home.
