Dabeck, Donna Marie (19 June 1981)
The Rev. Phillip Hoffman officiated at the Friday evening, June 19, wedding vows
for Donna Marie Dabeck, formerly of Granton, and Mark Steven Werlein, formerly
of Neillsville. The nuptials were shared in St. Paul’s Catholic Church in
Manitowoc. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Walter Dabeck, Manitowoc, and
Mr. and Mrs, Donald Werlein, Eau Claire.
Serving as the maid of honor was Mary Dabeck, the bride’s sister of Manitowoc.
She was joined by Nora Burbick, a friend of the bride from Oshkosh. Bestman was
James Werlein, the groom’s brother, of Winneconne. He was joined by Dave Farland,
a friend of the groom from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Ushering were Michael Dabeck of
Oshkosh and Jim Dabeck of Manitowoc, brothers of the bride.
Among the special musical selections offered during the service were “Voluntary
in C Major by Purcell,” “The Wedding Song,” “Ave Maria” and “Sonata No. 1 by
Viviani.” Performing were Randy Schneeberger on trumpet, who is a former
Neillsville High band teacher; Lori Schneider, vocalist; and Julie McDonald, the
bride’s aunt, as organist.
Following the wedding, a reception, dinner and dance was held at a Manitowoc
supper club.
The bride chose a gown of organza and Chantilly lace featuring an empress
neckline with a beaded lace bodice. The dress was designed with a double sleeve
and the gown had a long lace overlay bodice tied at the waist with a satin
ribbon. She carried a cascade of silk, off-white carnations, yellow roses and
light blue forget-me-nots. Her attendants wore light blue, long polyester gowns
with pleated skirts and matching lace overlay bodices, also tied at the waist by
satin ribbon. Their veiled hats matched the brides and they carried arm-sprays
of yellow roses and off-white baby’s breath tied with a white and light blue
ribbon.
The groom was attired in a silver tailed tuxedo, white ruffled shirt, silver bow
tie and wore a boutonniere of a yellow rose and light blue forget-me-nots. His
attendants wore similar tuxedos but with silver ascots, white wing collar shirts
and sported boutonnieres of a yellow rose.
Prenuptial events included a rehearsal luncheon at a Manitowoc supper club
hosted by the groom’s parents; a shower hosted by employees of the Clark County
Nursing Service; and another shower given by Dora Burbick at the home of the
bride’s parents.
The couple announced that they were taking a wedding trip by car to Sacramento,
California, which will be their new home.
The new Mrs. Werlein is a 1974 graduate of Roncalli High School in Manitowoc and
a 1978 bachelor degree earned from UW-Oshkosh’s School of Nursing. She was
employed from June of 1979, until June of this year with the Clark County
Nursing Service. Her husband is a 1969 graduate of Eau Claire’s Memorial High
School and earned 1973 bachelor’s and 1978 master’s degrees in music education
from UW-Eau Claire. He was instrumental music director at Granton Public Schools
until May of this year and is now employed as a sales representative for Cadence
Publishing Company.
