Streiter, Ilona Maria (15 Sep 1973)
Mr. and Mrs. James P. Streiter, route 2, Colby, gave their daughter, Ilona
Maria, to David Arthur Fischer in a marriage ceremony performed by Rev. Steven
Hasenstien of the Green Grove churches. The couple repeated their vows under a
flowered archway in the back yard at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Melvin Fischer, at Dorchester on Saturday, September 15, 1973, at 4 p.m.
Gary Waldhart played the organ theme from “Love Story” and sang “A Time for Us.”
The bride wore a white velvet empire waisted floor-length gown. The bodice
featured a scoop neckline adorned with tiny seed pearls, long fitted sleeves
with tiny pearl trim, and pearls down the front of the skirt. A headpiece of
white roses and baby’s breath held her three tiered veil, and she carried a
cascade bouquet of white tea roses and baby’s breath.
Cindy Streiter was maid of honor for her sister, and Judy Schaffer, Colby, Janet
Hodd, Abbotsford, and Marjorie Peters, Abbotsford, were bridesmaids. They wore
burnt orange empire waisted gowns of polyester knit, long sleeves, accented with
lace and flowers, and stand-up collars. They carried bouquets of “bird of
paradise” and ivy, and one twig.
Veronica Streiter, sister of the bride, and Mark Jensen, cousin of the groom,
served as flower girl and ring bearer.
Daniel Fischer, brother of the groom, was best man, and Gary Schaffer, Coly,
Gary Harless, Wausau, and Richard Konecny, Abbotsford, were groomsmen.
Dinner was served at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Green Grove, and a reception
and lunch were at Curtiss Hall.
The couple both graduated from Colby High School. The groom has been with the
Air Force for four years.
