Arends, Leonard J. (10 June 1915 - 24 September 1983)
Services for Leonard J. Arends, 68, of 1100 E. Arnold St who died Friday in the
emergency room of St. Joseph's Hospital, will be Tuesday at St. John's Catholic
Church.
The Rev. Steven J. Brice will officiate with burial in gate of heaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Frank Wesley will be organist, and Carol Wesley the soloist. Pallbearers
will be grandsons, nephews and friends of the family.
Visitation will be at Rembs/Kundinger Chapel.
He was born June 10, 1915 in Colby, to Mr. and Mrs. Andrew (Anna Knier) Arends
and received his education in schools there. He married Dorothy A. Miller
November 21, 1935 in Colby. The couple moved to Marshfield, where he was
employed for Roddis Plywood Corp., now Weyerhauser Co., for 40 years, retiring
in 1980.
A member of St. John's Catholic Church and the Holy name Society, Mr. Arends is
survived by his wife; his mother, Mrs. Anna Arends of Colby; two daughters, Mrs.
Raymond C. (Janice) Scheider and Mrs. Richard L. (Maureen) Wilcott, both of
Marshfield; eight grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Lawrence "Bud" (Irene) Heeg of
Marshfield; three brothers, Andrew of Colby, John of Milwaukee and Walter of
Watertown; one half-sister, Mrs. Evelyn Rathke of Paradise, California; and one
half-brother Albion Arends of Denver, Colorado.
He was predeceased by his father and a sister.
