Elmer, Stephanie L. (6 June 1981)

The Rev. Jerome J. Maksvytis officiated at the Saturday early afternoon, June 6, nuptial rites for Stephanie L. Elmer and John A. Sikora at Madison’s St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.

Parents of the couple are Mrs. La Verne Elmer and the late La Verne Elmer, Baraboo, and Mr. and Mrs. John J. Sikora, 606 East Second St., Neillsville.

William Davies, a friend of the bride’s family, presented the bride to the altar.

Mrs. Randy Hughes, a friend of the bride from Russellville, Arkansas, served as matron of honor. She was joined in the party by Pam Dorner, a friend of the bride from Hartland; Mrs. William McFarland, a sister of the bride from Janesville; and Mrs. Davie Weise, a cousin of the bride from Janesville.

Gary Ross, a friend of the groom from Neillsville, was bestman. He also participated in the ceremony by reading a Scripture passage. He was joined by Anthony Sikora, the groom’s brother of Neillsville; Paul Tesmer, a friend from Neillsville; and David Knoff, a friend from Milwaukee. Ushering were Pierce Dopp, a friend from Baraboo; James Engmann, a friend from Madison; and Joseph Sikora, the groom’s brother of Neillsville.

Serving as ring bearer was Jeremy Elmer, a nephew of the bride from Baraboo, while Jodi McFarland, a niece of the bride from Janesville, was flower girl.

Special music at the service included “:Follow Me,” “Do I Love You?” “The Wedding Song” and “Ave Maria,” performed by Mrs. Karl Kellor.

The bride chose an A-line, empire-style gown of Selesta jersey with silk Venician lace forming the pearled Queen Anne collar and fitted bodice, the cap sleeves and encircling the pleated skirt and chapel-length train. Silk Venician lace and chapel-length illusion streamers trimmed her small-brimmed picture hat. Her attendants wore floor-length gowns of light blue jersey with pleated skirts and spaghetti strap bodices beneath lace-trimmed chiffon jackets with blouson bodices, soft peplums, high collars and cap sleeves. The bride carried a bouquet of silk flowers, including white and blue roses, accented by baby’s breath. Her attendants also carried silk flower arrangements of blue morning-glories and gypsophila.

The groom was attired in a classic black tuxedo with white vest and white band bowtie. His attendants wore similar tuxedos with black vests and black band bowties.

(The bride did all the flower arrangements for the wedding, reception and dinner areas. She also made the corsages and boutonnieres worn by the family and wedding party and the bridal and bridesmaid’s bouquets.)

Following the wedding, a reception, dinner and dance was held at a Madison Holiday Inn. The couple did not announce their wedding trip plans. They will be making their new home in Baraboo. Prenuptial events included a rehearsal dinner at a Madison restaurant.

The bride is a 1975 graduate of Baraboo High School and is presently employed as a teller at the American Exchange Bank of Madison. The groom is a 1975 graduate of Neillsville High School and earned an accounting degree in 1979 from UW-Madison. He is presently in his third year of law school at UW-Madison and is employed as a law clerk for the criminal appeals unit of the Wisconsin Attorney General’s office.
