Mary Kay Schmidt and Joseph Paul Hart were united in marriage on Saturday
afternoon, June 27, by the Rev. Joseph Henseler at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in
Neillsville. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Verland Schmidt, Rt. 3
Neillsville, and Mr. and Mrs. Francis Hart, Rt. 1 Alma Center.
Several vocal and organ selections were offered at the nuptials by Rita Stewart,
Corrine Armitage and Mr. and Mrs. Rod Friedrichsen.
Peggy Schmidt, the bride’s sister of Eau Claire, was maid of honor. Completing
the bride’s party were Nancy Rossman of Eau Claire, Sue Pahs of La Crosse, Shari
Olstad of Alma Center and Lynn Hart, also of Alma Center; all were friends of
the bride.
On the groom’s side were David Ripp, Altoona, as bestman. He was joined by Carl
Michaels of Menomonie, Boyd Trachsel of Humbird and Randy Janke of Alma Center;
all friends of the groom, and George Hart, the groom’s brother of Alma Center.
Ushering were Jim Hart and Tim Schmidt, brothers of the couple.
Following the wedding, a reception and dinner was held at the Neillsville
American Legion Hall, followed by a dance at the Silver Dome Ballroom. The
couple then left on an undisclosed wedding trip.
For the wedding, the bride chose a gown of polyester organza with a Queen Anne
neckline, bishop sleeves and empire waist, which was trimmed in lace and seed
pearls. Her matching waltz-length veil was trimmed in lace and pearls with a
modified Camelot cap. She carried a cascade of red roses, white carnations and
baby’s breath. Her attendants wore Selesta Chiffon knit gowns is a rainbow of
colors. They carried white lace fans with multi-colored carnations and white
daisies.
The new Mr. and Mrs. Hart will make their home at Rt. 1 Alma Center. She is a
1977 graduate of Neillsville High School and Mid-State Technical Institute of
Wisconsin Rapids. She is employed as a food service supervisor for Neillsville
Memorial Hospital. Her husband, a 1977 graduate of Lincoln High, is a farmer.
