Borchert, Mr. and Mrs. Carl H. (Gold – 29 Dec 1973)
Mr. and Mrs. Carl H. Borchert of 107 North 2nd Street, Colby, celebrated their
50th wedding anniversary Sunday, October 28, 1973 with a dinner for relatives at
noon at Zion Lutheran Church, Colby, and an open house at Colby City Hall from 2
to 5 p.m.
Mr. and Mrs. Borchert were married December 29, 1923 in Menominee, Michigan. The
early celebration was held to accommodate those unable to attend during the
winter months.
Mr. Borchert is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Borchert of Colby, and
his wife, the former Olga L. Ahlmann, is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs.
William Ahlmann of Wausau.
They made their first home at Route 2, Colby, and moved to their present home in
1947. They are the parents of a son, Donald Carl Borchert, two grandchildren and
one great-grandchild. They are members of Zion Lutheran Church, Colby.
The celebration also marked the 90th birthday of an uncle from Glenwood City,
the 86th birthday of Mrs. William Ahlmann of Wausau (Mrs. Borchert’s
step-mother), and the 31st anniversary of Mrs. Borchert’s sister, Mr. and Mrs.
Walter Laabs of Owen
Friends and relatives from many Wisconsin cities attended the event.
