Rychnovsky, John C. (05 November 1912 - 28 September 1983)
NEILLSVILLE -- Services for John C. Rychnovsky, 70, of 217 Ayers St.,
Neillsville, a former 4th Ward alderman, who died Wednesday at Memorial
Hospital, will be Saturday at the Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville.
The Rev. Paul Forde of Calvary Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in
the Neillsville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim Horswill, Glen Lund, Kenneth
Olson, Harold Naedler, Calvin Mills and Bill Gallagher.
He was born November 5, 1912 in Omaha, Nebraska, to the late Mr. and Mrs. John
(Caroline Hrslicka) Rychnovsky, and moved with his parents to Marshfield at an
early age. He was educated in schools there and worked as a mechanic at various
places.
On November 21, 1941 in Greenwood he married Gladys Seif. The couple lived in
Rockford, Illinois until 1943 and then moved to Neillsville, where he was
employed by Frank Rinehart. In 1948, he and his two brothers, Stan and Ed,
opened the Rychnovsky Brothers Garage. He retired in 1980.
Mr. Rychnovsky served on the Neillsville City Council for 26 years and was
acting mayor of the city for a short time. He also served as chairman of the
Utilities Commission.
A veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army from May 1945 to
December 1945. Mr. Rychnovsky was a member of Haugen-Richmond American Legion
Post No. 73 of Neillsville.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Arlyn (Donna) Bryan of Neillsville;
two sons, John of Neillsville and Michael of Enon, Ohio; three brothers, Stan
and Ed, both of Neillsville, and Tony of Greenwood; and five grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother, Frank.
