The Abbotsford-Colby police commission received oral resignation Monday night
from Police Chief Albert Podevels. The resignation will be effective January 1,
1974, when Podevels will begin duties in the deputy sheriff position with Clark
County law enforcement staff.
Chief Podevels started his career in police work in July of 1965 as police chief
for the city of Colby. He has been full time police chief for the
Abbotsford-Colby communities since the joint force was begun in 1969, and is
assisted by Ron Gosse and Frank Brodhagen, relief officers at the present time.
A native of Colby, Podevels is married to the former Everdeen Viegut, and they
have seven children, five at home. They have lived in the city of Colby since
1965.
