Frome, Emma (3 Feb 1889 – 06 Dec 1973)
Funeral services were held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Colby
for Mrs. Emma Frome, 84, who died Thursday morning at her home in Colby. The
Rev. Kenneth Loehrke of Abbotsford officiated. Interment was in Colby Memorial
Cemetery.
The former Emma Stock was born in the town of Colby on February 3, 1889, and
received her education in local schools. She was married to Hugo Frome on
November 10, 1910, at Zion Lutheran Church in Colby. After their marriage the
couple farmed in the town of Hull and moved into Colby in 1936. Mr. Frome was
employed by Harmony Co-op a few years, and the couple operated Colby Oil Company
for many years. He died in 1952.
Mrs. Frome was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, past officers of Ladies’ Aid
and Sewing Society, Colby Senior Citizens, and the Colby VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include a son, Milford Frome of Colby, and a daughter, Mrs. Jacob
(Helen) Katte of Sheboygan; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a
sister, Mrs. Walter (Ella) Jungenberg of Eau Claire, and a brother, Otto Stock
of Loyal.
A brother and sister preceded her in death.
