Pierce, Mary (23 Nov 1884 – 21 Dec 1973)

Funeral services were held Monday, December 24, 1973 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Colby, for Mary Pierce, 89, who died Friday at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, of a heart attack. Rev. Francis Rushman officiated at the 10 a.m. service. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

The body lay in state at Lulloff Funeral Home, Colby, where a general rosary was said Sunday at 8:15 p.m.

Mrs. Pierce was born November 23, 1884 in the town of Colby. She received her education in Colby schools, and was married to Willard Pierce in Montana, where she owned and operated a dress shop before her marriage. The couple moved to Tacoma, Washington, where they resided until her husband’s death in 1966, when she returned to Colby to make her home with her brother, Frank Will.

Mrs. Pierce was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Colby.

Survivors include a son, Willard Pierce Jr. of Oregon, six grandchildren, a brother, Frank Will, and a sister Antonette Casey, both of Colby.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son and four brothers.
