The Owen-Withee School District has just hired a new high school art teacher to fill the vacancy left upon the resignation last fall of Mr. Chase. The new teacher, Tim Worachek, will start teaching on Friday, January 16. 1978.

A graduate of UW-Stout, Tim Worachek earned a B.S. in Art Education, and did his student teaching in Neillsville. His specialty in the first of art is sculpture, and has been in a number of competitive contests in his career. He recently entered the Copper Brass and Bronze Competition with his piece call “Du Horn.” The piece was made of hand hammered copper, and was on display at the University of Tucson, Arizona Art Gallery from February thru May 1977.

Lst fall hew as commissioned by Associated Attractions Enterprise, Inc., Chicago, to do an eleven foot rabbit for the Chicago Christmas parade held on December 10, 1977. The rabbit was put on an “Alice in Wonderland Float” and made of paper Mache over chicken wire on a wire armature.

In addition to these art pieces, Tim taught a sculpture workshop under a teacher’s assistantship through the Stout Art Department during ten Saturday afternoon sessions this last fall. And this summer he served as assistant director of the Art and Craft program under the recreational program on the arts of Menomonie.

Although he has little time for anything else but his art work, Tim also enjoys photograph and hiking during the summer. He enjoys going to art museums where his favorite art is pop art and his favorite artist is Gaus Ordenburg.

Jim’s home town is Necedah, Wisconsin, where he graduated from high school I 1974. His dad Frank Worachek is superintendent of the Necedah School District, and has been since 1960. His mother is a house wife. He has three brothers and one sister, and one of his brothers is a teacher at Neillsville.
