King, Charles Arthur (21 February 1899 - 29 September 1983)

NEILLSVILLE -- Services for C. Arthur King, 84, of the Neillsville Memorial Home, who died there Saturday at the Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville.

The Rev. Gary L. Clark of United Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, St. Paul, Minnesota.

He was born February 21, 1899 in Rushmore, Minnesota, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Celia Craig) King. He received his education at Worthington, Minnesota. graduating from high school there. He served with the U.S. Army in England from March 25, 1918 until June 5, 1919. After his discharge he returned to Worthington where he was employed.

He married Eva G. Wakefield April 11, 1922 in Slaton, Minnesota. The couple resided in Sioux City, Iowa, where he was employed for many years. In 1933 they moved to Makato, Minnesota, where he worked as a salesman. In 1956 they moved to Neillsville and he continued working as a salesman until retiring in 1972. His wife died September 7, 1978 and he had been a resident of the Memorial Home the past eight years.

A member of the United Church of Christ, Mr. King is survived by a daughter, Mrs. John (Dorothy) Roberts of Neillsville; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was also predeceased by three sisters and three brothers.
