Jerry Gerber, new president of the Owen-Curtiss State Bank, has assumed his new
duties as of Tuesday, January 3, 1978. He was elected to the office of president
during a meeting of the Board of Directors of the bank on Tuesday, December 22,
1977, following the purchase of the bank by Mr. Gerber, Larry Van Depsen,
president of the Chetek State Bank, Franz Gerber and Carl Gerber of Bruce.
Under the new ownership and leadership of the Owen-Curtiss State Bank will be
improved in a number of important areas. Mr. Geber listed these several areas:
first, the board of directors will be increased from the present five members to
seven, with four members from the local Owen and Curtiss area. Three of the
local members are Mr. Gerber, Henry Buss and Art Snodgrass, and the other
members will be chosen at the next stockholders meeting. The other three members
of the Board are Franz Gerber, Carl Gerber and Larry Van Deusen.
The second and third areas of improvement are that both Mr. Gerber and Mr.
Snodgrass will be loan officers, both with an increased and combine loan limit.
Thus, with a larger board of directors and four local members, an increased loan
limit, the Owen-Curtiss State Bank will be able to provide not only faster
results on loan applications, but better service to the farming and business
community. With the four local board members acting as a loan committee, larger
loans will be processed quickly, with 24 to 48 hours, without the meeting of the
entire board. This will be quite important to a customer, as they will not have
to wait a month for results of their application.
