Kurt S. Pawlak, 15, an Eau Claire Memorial sophomore, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry
Knickerbocker and the late William A. Pawlak, 127 W. Mac Arthur Ave., Eau
Claire, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Al Prock of Owen and Mrs. Bertha Pawlak of
Thorp, was notified in November and will be going to Germany in June, having
been accepted for the Youth for Understanding student exchange in Germany.
The Youth for Understanding Program is a non-profit International student
exchange organization, which reports it has exchanged more than 55,00 students
worldwide. Students 14 to 18 live with local families in one of 23 countries in
Europe, Latin America, Far East or Africa for a summer or one year. Mrs. Alice
Spanel, 22? E. Fillmore Avenue, is the Eau Claire representative of Y.F.U.
