Roohr, John L. (5 May 1896 – 30 Jan 1978)
John L. Roohr, age 81, of Owen, passed away at 5:50 p.m. Monday, January 30,
1978 at Victory Memorial Hospital, Stanley.
Services for Mr. Roohr will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 2, 1978
at St. Katherine’s Episcopal Church, Owen, with Father Stillings officiating.
Burial services will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Withee.
The body will lie in state after 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1 at the
Maurina Funeral Home in Owen.
Mr. Roohr was born on May 5, 1896 in the Township of Beaver. He married the
former Florence Fancher in 1916. She passed away on December 12, 1955.
He farmed in the Township of Green Grove until 1951, when he moved to Owen,
where he worked for the Soo Line Railroad.
He was a World War I veteran, and a member of St. Katherine’s Episcopal Church.
Mr. Roohr is survived by three sons, Wayne of Madison, Gerald of Wind Lake, and
Kenneth of Fontana, California; one sister, Mrs. Ruby (Ann) Ostach of Milwaukee,
and fifteen grandchildren.
