Ball, Mattie (20 Jul 1890 – 08 Feb 1978)
Mrs. Mattie Ball, age 87, formerly of the Town of Maplehurst, passed away at
8:30 p.m. Thursday at Colonial House of Colby, where she had been a resident for
the past four years.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 1978 at Holy
Rosary Catholic Church in Owen, with the Rev. Richard Fliss officiating. Burial
services followed in Riverside Cemetery, Withee. Services were provided by
Maurina Funeral Home in Owen.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Dearth, Mickey Krause, Marty Krause, Kenneth Jaskot,
Larry Nichols and Dale Ball.
The former Mattie Boyer was born July 20, 1890 in South Bend, Indiana. Shew as
married to William Ball in February 1908, and he died April 9, 1947. They fist
lived in Pierre, South Dakota, and later moved to Sauk City, Iowa. They lived in
the Town of Maplehurst from 1927 to 1947.
Mrs. Ball moved to Marshfield, where she did nursing care in her home.
Mrs. Ball is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Edith Wenzel of Owen, Mrs. Joe
(Althea) Jascor(?), of Owen, and Mrs. Raymond (Viola) Nichols of Atlanta,
Georgia; one son, Albert Ball of Akron, Ohio, nineteen grandchildren, forty
great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one daughter and two sisters.
