For about four months during this long winter season the former Owen-Curtiss State Bank building on Central Avenue in Owen has been the headquarter home for an import business known as Arctic Circle Imports, owned and operated by Carl and Judy Salo. Formerly of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, the Salo’s import Finnish products directly from Finland, and then distribute them wholesale in stores, and gift shops throughout the United States.

They have been in the import business together for more than three years, having first started with jewelry, then main line, and their bride and butter. However, in the past several years they have branched out into many other gift articles. Their primary customers are Scandinavian shops, high grade gift shops, and contemporary jewelry stores.
