James R. Wegner of Owen has been named Regional Director for Northern Wisconsin for General Business Services, Inc., according to Bernard S. Browning, GBS President.

General Business Services is a national business counseling service specializing in management analysis services for small business owners and professional through independently owned franchises. GBS began operation in 1962 in Washington, D.C. and now has nearly 1,000 franchise agreements in all 50 states.

Wegner will be responsible for recruiting and training new franchisees in Northern Wisconsin. He joined GBS in 1973 as a Field Director, and recently attended a Regional Director Training Institute at the home office.

Wegner said that Wisconsin offers an unlimited opportunity for GBS counselors due to the numbers of small business, which require the specialized, low cost record and income tax services being by GBS counselors. He said he is planning an extensive recruitment program, seeking qualified women and men interested in their own business counseling practice.
