Lightning destroyed a barn and burned 18 ton of hay early Sunday morning, April
8, 1978 on the farm owned by Milton and Harold Krom, about 4 miles northwest of
Withee.
The barn, being used by Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rohland, who live next to the Krom
farm, was struck by lightning at about 2:20 a.m.. Otto Rabska, a neighbor, heard
the crash when the barn was struck, and went out see where it hit, finding the
barn on fire. He attempted calling the Rohlands, but was unable to reach
