Durbin, Homer B. (4 Apr 1906 – 8 Apr 1978)
Homer B. Durbin, age 72, of R.R. #2, Withee, in the Township of Hixon, died in
his home on Saturday, April 8, 1978 at 7:00 p.m. of an apparent heart attack.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 1978 at the Withee Methodist
Church, with Rev. Loren Swanson officiated, and burial was made in Riverside
Cemetery. The Maurina Funeral Home in Owen provided the services.
Mr. Durbin was born on April 4, 1906 at Keokuk, Co. Iowa, and later moved to
rural Curtiss in 1924 and farmed. He married the former Martha Craig on June 21,
1935 at Watchur, Iowa, and they moved to the Withee area in 1941 to farm. From
1950 to 1970 he was employed at Teledyne Post in Owen.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. William (Matse(?)) Kostick of Withee; three
brothers, Alfred of Owen, Howard and Glen of Withee; one sister, Mrs. Felix
(Edna) Poznanski of Waupaca, and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, who died on February 17, 1961, and three
sisters.
Pallbearers were Clifford Hanson, Orlando Olsen, Paul Ruggles, Ronald Kostick,
William Wirtala, and Virgil Konwinski.
