Czernicki, Joseph Sr. (1890? – 9 Apr 1978)

Joseph Czernicki Sr., age 87, died on April 9, 1978 at West Allis Memorial Hospital, West Allis, Wisconsin.

Military funeral services were held Wednesday, April 12, 1978 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Hedwig-Bernard Catholic Church at Thorp, with Rev. Bill Buchman officiating. Members of Thorp American Legion acted as pallbearers.

He was born in Poland, and spent most of his years farming in the town of Withee. He was very active in town affairs and was treasurer for many years. He also served on the school board of Pineland State Graded School for some years.

He is survived by two sons, Edward of Rommey, West Virginia, Joseph Jr. of Franksville, Wisconsin; three daughters, Marie Tranel of Galena, Illinois, Alice Laski of Withee, Wisconsin, and Irene Gryskiewicz of West Allis, Wisconsin; sixteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara, in 1939.
