Miller, Denise (1970? – 27 Apr 1978)
Thursday evening, April 27, 1978 a seven year old Abbotsford girls died at St.
Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield from injuries she had suffered earlier when she
was struck by an auto on Highway 13 in Abbotsford.
Denise Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Miller of 319 N. Third Street,
according to police, dashed onto the highway into the path of the northbound
auto driven by Elsa Jensen, 70, of Medford.
The accident happened at 7:45 p.m. just north of the intersection of Oak Street
and Highway 13. The girl ran from the west side of the highway into the front of
the Jensen auto, which was moving about 20 mph.
Taken to the Colby Clinic, she was later transferred to St. Joseph’s Hospital,
where she died at 9:10 p.m. of head injuries.
Her death, along with four others, raised Wisconsin’s 1978 highway teath toll to
190 today, compared with 246 on the same date last year.
