Edward Bartholomy, a former resident of Withee, age 79, died on April 21, 1978
in Milwaukee, where he has made his home with his sister, Mabel Pederson.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 24, 1978 at the Schmidt and Bartelt
Funeral Home in Milwaukee, with the Rev. Frank A. Dauner officiating. Burial was
at the Highland Memorial Park.
Edward Bartholomy was born on October 12, 1899, the son of Louis and Jennie
Bartholomy, one of the pioneer families in Withee. He was educated at the old
Moody School, where he walked three miles a day to attend.
The Bartholomy family moved to Withee in 1902 and first farmed nearby. The
family home where Mr. and Mrs. Ted (Helen Bartholomy) Hendricks was purchased in
1917, and Louis Bartholomy lived there until his death in 1967, at the age of
96.
Edward worked out with his father as a mason, then he worked out on farms until
he went to work in Milwaukee. He served in the Army in World War II from 1942 to
1944, when he was given an honorable discharge. He finally went totally blind in
1952.
He is survived by three sisters, Mabel Pederson in Milwaukee, Mrs. Ted (Helen)
Hendricks, Withee, and Florence.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Robert, Walter and Frederick, and sister,
Minnie.
