Bertrang, Edgar Lee (1939? – 21 September 1963)

Eau Claire Leader - September 25, 1963:

NEILLSVILLE - Word was received of the death of Edgar Lee Bertrang, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Orville Bertrang, of the Port Washington area, formerly of Neillsville. (A graduate of Class of 1957.)

Bertrang was reported killed at 1:30 a.m. Saturday in California while on his way home from work. His motor bike collided head on with a compact car.

Funeral services will be held today in California. He is survived by his wife and one child.

Van Nuys News September 22, 1963:

ENGINEER KILLED IN HEAD ON CRASH

A Chatsworth engineer on his way home from work was killed early yesterday when his motorcycle was hit head-on in Canoga Park.

Edgar Bertrang, 24, an engineer at Rocketdyne Corp. who lived at 22111 1/2 Chatsworth, was riding his motorcycle on Canoga Ave. near Nordhoff St. when he was hit by an auto driven by Paul R Bechtold 38, also an engineer of 8520 Shirley Ave., Northridge.

Bechtold was booked at West Valley police station on felony manslaughter charges, according to Traffic Officer George Adams. Police said his car apparently crossed the center lane and collided with the cycle.

Marriage: 10 Nov 1960 Los Angeles, California, USA. Had one child: - Todd Cameron Bertrang, born: 7 Sep 1962 Los Angeles, California, USA.
