Diane Marie Sandquist and Michael Ernest Christie were united in marriage during candlelight services on late Saturday afternoon, August 8, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville. The Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiated. The bride is the daughter of Gerald and Doris Sandquist, Rt. 2 Neillsville, while the groom is the son of Gerald and Carol Christie, 311 E. Second St., Neillsville.

Deborah Enockson, a sister of the bride from Plymouth, served as matron of honor. She was joined in the party by Carol Lezotte, a friend of the bride from Neillsville; Kelly Christie, sister of the groom from Eau Claire; and June Christie, another of the groom’s sisters from Neillsville.

On the groom’s side, Jeff Wallace, a friend from Neillsville, was bestman. He was joined by Randy Roehl and William Aumann, both friends of Neillsville, and Daniel Christie, a cousin of the groom from Sun Prairie. Ushering were John Enockson, the bride’s brother-in-law of Plymouth, and James Leino, a friend of the groom from Minneapolis.

Special music of the service included “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring,” “The Wedding Prayer,” “The Lord’s Prayer” and “Trumpet Voluntary in D Major,” offered by Paul and Beth Tess.

The bride chose a gauntlet lace gown with high Victorian neckline, deep inverted ruffled bodice of Brussel’s lace which also formed the elbow-length sleeves. The gown also featured silk, Venician lace at the bodice and fitted waistline; a full, Brussel-lace accented skirt; and a chapel-length train. Her veil was of waltz length and featured a modified Camelot cap trimmed with lace. She carried pink rosebuds and baby’s breath on a Brussels lace fan with streamers. Her attendants wore luster-glo gowns in rainbow colors of apricot, mint, pink and blue, featuring high necklines, long sleeves, fitted bodices and full A-line shirts. They carried colonial bouquets of pink roses, yellow carnations, white daisies, baby’s breath and streamers.

The groom and his attendants were attired in silver-gray Versailles-styled tuxedos.

Following the service, a reception was held at the Neillsville Country Club, followed by a dance at the Silver Dome Ballroom. The couple then left on a trip to the northern states.

Prenuptial events included a shower hosted by Deborah Enockson and another shower hosted by Sally, Eva and Pat Christie.

The new Mr. and Mrs. Christie will make their home in Eau Claire. She is a 1980 graduate of Neillsville High School and is attending UW-Eau Claire. She is employed by the physics department at UW-Eau Claire. He is a 1979 graduate of Neillsville High School and in 1980 from Western Wisconsin Technical Institute-La Crosse. He is employed by the Golden Rule Oil Company of Eau Claire.
