Mlada, Lina (28 March 1897 – 13 August 1981)

Mrs. E.L. (Lina) Mlada, 84, former Greenwood resident, died Thursday, August 13, at Edgewater Haven, Port Edwards.

Lina Austin was born March 28, 1897, in Sparta to John and Balance (De Witt) Austin. She received her education at Sparta Grade School and High School. She was a graduate of UW-La Crosse.

After college, she taught elementary school in Tigerton and Goodman until her marriage. She then live in Goodman until moving to Greenwood where the Mlada’s operated a general store from 1928 to the 1950s. She moved to Marshfield after the death of her husband on December 21, 1954. She was secretary for the City Nurse of Marshfield until her retirement.

She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, The United Methodist Women and its Martha Circle, the Silver Circle and the Order of Eastern Star. She served as treasurer for both the Martha Circle and Silver Circle.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Margaret) Polansky, Wisconsin Rapids, a son, Austin Mlada, Hales Corners; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 19, from the Wesley United Methodist Church in Marshfield. The Rev. John Wreford officiated. Mrs. Donald Weir was the organist and Bill Allen was soloist. Burial was made in Hillside Cemetery Marshfield.
