O’Dell, Alvina A. (16 July 1889 – 15 August 1981)
Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon, August 19, for Alvina A.
O’Dell, from the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. The Rev. Wally Anderson of
the Living Hope Evangelical Free Church officiated with burial made in the
Neillsville City Cemetery.
Mrs, O’Dell, a Rt. 1 Neillsville resident, passed away in Neillsville Memorial
Hospital on Saturday evening, August 15. She was 92.
The deceased was born in Monroe on July 16, 1889, to Henry J. and Bertha (Pergande)
Blumer. At the age of two, she moved with her parents to LaVern, Iowa, where she
received her education. She then moved back to Monroe. On October 6, 1909, she
married John S. Becker. He died on August 17, 1917.
Then Mrs. Becker remained in Monroe until her second marriage, that on March 3,
1927, in Rockford, Illinois, to Arthur C. O’Dell. The couple then moved to the
Neillsville area where they farmed in the Town of Washburn. In 1957, her second
husband died but she continued to farm until retirement in 1972. She continued
to live on the farm until her death.
Surviving her is one daughter, Mrs. Roland (Sylvia) Elbert, Spirit Lake, Iowa.
She was preceded in death, besides two husband, by one sister and two brothers.
