Martens, Herman (26 Jan 1894 – 16 Jan 1974)
Services were held Saturday, January 19, 1974 at Zion Lutheran Church, Colby,
for Herman Martens, 79, Unity, who died Wednesday morning at St. Joseph’s
Hospital, Marshfield, of old age complications. The body lay in state at the
Lulloff Funeral Home, Colby, with visitations after 1 p.m. Friday. Interment was
made in Colby Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Martens was born in the town of Unity on January 26, 1894. He received his
education in the Willow Brook School. He farmed in the town of Unity most of his
life, retiring from the farm in 1943, after which he was employed by Roddis
Plywood, Marshfield for 20 years.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church at Colby.
Surviving him are a brother, Emil Martens, Colby, and three sisters, Mrs. Erwin
(Mathilda) Burnett, Unity, Mrs. John (Margaret) Fitchett, West Allis, and Mrs.
Harold (Susan) Nietzel, Milwaukee.
Three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
