Schraufnagel, Mathilda (26 Feb 1884 – 19 Jan 1974)
Funeral services were held Monday, January 22, 1974 for Mrs. Mathilda
Schraufnagel, 89, Colby, who died January 19, 1974 at St. Joseph’s Hospital,
Marshfield. Rev. Francis Rushman officiated at the service.
Pallbearers, all nephews of the deceased, were Dale, Joseph, Claude and Hubert
Apfelbeck, James and Pat Schraufnagel.
Mathilda Apfelbeck was born in the town of Hull on February 26, 1884, and was
married to Norbert Schraufnagel on June 17, 1913, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
They farmed in the town of Hull until 1946, when they retired and moved to the
city of Colby. He died January 22, 1962. Mrs. Schraufnagel had resided at
Colonial Nursing Home for the past two and one-half years.
Surviving are a foster son, Alois Gabriel, Colby; three brothers, Leo, Bernard
and Albert Apfelbeck, all of Colby, and one sister, Mrs. Rose Thorn, Marshfield.
She was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.
