Olson, Lester E. (12 February 1906 – 4 September 1981)

Lester E. Olson, 75, of the Town of Franklin, Jackson County, died Friday, September 4 at his home.

He was born on February 12, 1906, in Wausau to John and Oliver Olson. He moved to the Merrillan area with his family in his early childhood. On September 15, 1928, he married Blanche Schoolcraft in Winona. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1978.

They farmed near Alma Center and later in Clark County until 1954. Then they moved to Racine where they were caretakers of an estate. Upon retiring in 1968, they moved to Black River Falls. In 1975, they moved to Humbird where they lived until 1978 when they returned to Black River Falls. They lived in the Town of Franklin since August 1980. He was a member of the Humbird United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Leonard and Richard, both of Black River Falls; a brother, Harold, Mellon; a sister Mrs. Loretta Mackey, Mellon; and four grandsons. He was preceded in death by two sons, two brothers and one sister.

Services were held Monday afternoon in the Merrillan United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gordon Johnson of Black River Falls, officiating with burial in Oakwood Cemetery at Merrillan. The Charles Buswell Funeral Home at Black River Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
