Meredith, Valerie (5 September 1981)
Making their home in Marshfield are the new Mr. and Mrs. David Jacobson. The
couple were married on Saturday late afternoon, September 5, at the Neillsville
United Church of Christ by the Rev. Gary Clark.
Parents of the bride, Valerie Meredith, are Mr. and Mrs. Tom Meredith, Rt. 4
Neillsville. The groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Roger Jacobson, R. 1 Loyal.
“God, a Woman and a Man” and The Wedding Song” were the special music selections
offered at the service by soloist and guitarist David Knoff. Eileen Zank offered
organ selections.
Tracey Simenson, the bride’s sister of Neillsville, was matron of honor. She was
joined by Marie Meredith, another sister of the bride from Neillsville; Sue
Froeba, a friend from Marshfield; and Kris Vine, a friend from Granton. Clarice
Simenson, the bride’s niece of Neillsville, was flower girl. Janet Meredith, the
bride’s niece also of Neillsville, served as acolyte prior to the nuptials.
Jack Wissell, a friend of the groom from Loyal, was best man. He was joined by
Jeff Kollmansberger, a friend from Loyal; Jim Jacobson, the groom’s brother of
Marshfield; and Ed Giese, a friend from Loyal. Ushering were Ken Kernz, the
groom’s brother-in-raw of Loyal, and Elden Richerts, a cousin of the bride, from
Stillwater, Minnesota.
The bride chose a sheer ivory, organza-detailed gown with Venetian lace and
styled with a V-neckline, angle sleeves and a floor-length skirt flowing into a
chapel train. Her Venetian lace-edged veil was caught by a matching lace Camelot
headpiece. She carried an orchid surrounded by while roses, ivy and baby’s
breath. The matron of honor wore silk blend gown in an orchid shade with sheer
caplet and knife-pleated shirts. The other attendants had similarly styled gowns
only in a lavender shade. They carried bouquets of miniature carnations, asters
and baby’s breath. Each wore miniature carnations in their hair.
The groom was attired in an ivory suit. His attendants wore ivory jackets and
brown slacks.
Following the service, a dinner and dance was held at Loyal American Legion
Hall. The couple than left on a trip to Southern Wisconsin and Illinois.
The bride is a 1979 graduate of Neillsville High School and from Marshfield
Technical School in 1980.
She is employed by Citizens National Bank and Trust of Marshfield. Her husband
