Miss Sharon Orth became the bride of Kenneth Welch in a ceremony performed by
Father Emil Hodnik at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Abbotsford, at 1:30 p.m.
Saturday, April 20, 1974.
Guitar music was played during the ceremony. Decorations for the wedding
included wedding bells, white and mint green streamers.
Parents of the couple are Mr. And Mrs. Raymond Orth, Abbotsford, and Mr. and
Mrs. Gerald Welch, Chili.
A gown of silk organza brought together at the neck with a stand up layer of
ruffles, the front accented with Venice lace, which encircled the high waist and
long puff sleeves gathered in ruffles at the wrist was chosen by the bride for
her wedding day. An arrangement of red roses and white carnations complemented
her attire.
Miss Gloria Zawacki, Marshfield, served as maid of honor for her friend.
Bridesmaids were Miss Marlene Orth, sister of the bride, and Miss Diane Brill,
Wausau.
The bride’s attendants wore floor length mint green gowns of dotted Swiss,
empire style, featuring a bateau neckline and full sleeves. They carried mint
green carnations and white daisy arrangements.
Dennis Welch served his brother as best man, and groomsmen were Gen Orth,
Abbotsford, brother of the bride, and Gary Welch, Chili, another brother of the
groom. Ushering duties were performed by Dennis Orth, Abbotsford, and Doug
Welch, Sturgeon Bay.
A reception was held at The Sword, Colby. Supper was served in the church
basement, and a dance followed at the Sword from 9 to 1.
The couple will make their home at 109 N. Central, Marshfield, where the groom
is employed by Mike Hildebrandt’s Construction. The new Mrs. Welch has been
employed by ILC Products at Spencer.
