Drescher, Mr. and Mrs. Carl (45th – 9 September 1981)
Celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary with a September 20 open house were
Carl and Frances Drescher, Rt. 2 Granton.
The reception and dance took place at the Granton’s Sportsmen’s Club. Activities
included the singing of a family history by Mildred Faber and Helen Dux. The
cake cutting and serving was done by nieces Marie Kohlbeck, Nancy Braatz and
Mary Lepori. The guest book was taken care of by Vicki Free, a granddaughter. A
buffet was served to 300 guests, who came from St. James, Minnesota; Bear Lake,
Michigan; and the Wisconsin communities of Wausau, Shawano, Clintonville,
Madison, Tomah, Antigo, Marshfield, Wisconsin Rapids and the local area.
Carl Drescher and Frances Hoeft were married on September 9, 1936, by the Rev.
Arthur Laesch at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hoeft of Lynn.
Attendants were Vivian (Drescher) Thiede, now of Tomahawk, and Ray Hoeft of
Granton.
The couple farmed in the Town of Grant until 1974 when they retired. (Carl keeps
active doing carpentry.)
The couple has two children, Richard of Wisconsin Rapids and Carol of rural
Granton, plus ten grandchildren.
