Bollom, Rose A. (1 August 1907 – 29 September 1981)

Rose A. Bollom, 74, who was long associated with Neillsville health care as a registered nurse, passed away on Tuesday morning, September 29, in Neillsville Memorial Hospital.

The deceased was born on August 1, 1907, in Chicago to Joseph and Grace Marie (Izzo) Scinto. She received her education in Chicago and later took nurse’s training at Ashland General Hospital, Ashland. On April 11, 1936, she married Ellsworth Bollom in Virginia, Minnesota, ceremonies.

The couple moved to Neillsville where she worked as a registered nurse at the community’s original hospital and later at the Neillsville Clinic, which was located in the Merchant’s Hotel building. When the new was built, she worked there for many years. Her total years of service as a registered nurse in the community was over 30 years. Even after retirement, she continued to work part-time at the clinic.

She and her husband made their home on East Seventh Street in Neillsville. She was a member of the local United Methodist congregation and the Carmi Chapter of the Eastern Star.

Special music was provided at the service by the congregation, which sang “God of Earth, the Sky, the Sea,” accompanied by Iris Musil.

Survivors, besides her husband, include three daughters, Patricia Bradshaw of Eau Claire, Mrs. Donald (Barbara) Erdmann of Milwaukee and Mrs. Larry (JoAnn) Wren of Neillsville; one sister, Mrs. Jane Felix, Fergus Falls, Mn.; one brother Mike Scinto, Mt. Iron, Mn.; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.

Rev. William Noble officiated at the Neillsville United Methodist Church funeral services for Rose A. Bollom on Friday afternoon, October 2. With the Gesche Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements, burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Visitation were made at the Gesche Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. and again on Friday morning until time of services. Easter Star services were slated for Thursday evening at 7:30 at the funeral home. Pallbearers were Dr. Kenneth Manz, Everett Skroch, Emil Hauri, Elliott Warlum, Arlie Fritz, and Herron Van Gorden.

Attending the services from out-of-town were Mr./Mrs. Mike Scinto, Mt. Iron, Mn.; Jane Felix, Fergus Falls, Mn; Mr./Mrs. Donald Erdmann & daughters, Milwaukee; Lenore Walsh, Mondovi; Mr./Mrs. Einar Larson and Mr./Mrs. Leslie Hestekin, of Osseo; Mr./Mrs. Lester Dodge, Chippewa Falls; Mr./Mrs. Dale Tinstman, Holcombe; and Eau Claire residents Mr./Mrs. Ed Noyes, Naomi Fradette, Cheri Diers, Orra Vold and Mrs. Ronnie Vold.
