Westphal, Gloria A. (4 May 1974)
Edwin E. Weiland claimed Gloria A. Westphal as his bride in a ceremony performed
by Rev. Mark Nicholas at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Milan, at 1:30 p.m.
Saturday, May 4, 1974. David Boehning provided organ music as Vicky Nixdorf sang
during the ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by Mr. and Mrs. Edward A.
Westphal, Route 2, Athens.
Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Edwin O. Weiland, Route 1, Colby.
The bride wore her mother’s wedding gown. The princess style gown of ivory
duchess satin was trimmed with Alencon lace insert extending from the shoulders
to the chapel train, the softly draped bodice embroidered with seed pearls. Her
lace edged train veil was held by a lace covered Camelot headpiece. She carried
a nosegay bouquet of yellow roses, white and green daisies and baby’s breath and
ivory.
Miss Susan Weiland, Colby, sister of the groom, was maid of honor. Miss Dinna
Binning, Unity, Miss Jean Nagel, Edgar, cousin of the bride, and Miss Shelly
Winkler, Wisconsin Rapids, niece of the bride, served as bridesmaids.
They wore green and gold gingham checked gowns featuring baby doll sleeves and
scoop necklines. Each wore a floral headpiece with floor length veils. They
carried nosegays of yellow, green and white daisies, baby’s breath and ivy.
Thomas Lindau, Curtiss, was the best man. Serving as groomsmen were Dennis
Westphal, Athens, brother of the bride, Gary Weiland, Colby, brother of the
groom. Richard Weiland, Colby, brother of the groom, and Leon Westphal, Athens,
brother of the bride, were ushers.
A supper, reception and dance followed the ceremony, all held at Dorchester
Memorial Hall.
The bride is a 1972 graduate of Abbotsford High School, and attended Career
Academy at Milwaukee. She is a waitress at Abby Café, Abbotsford. The groom is a
1972 graduate of Colby High School and is engaged in farming at Route 2, Colby,
where they will make their home.
