Bottlemy, Joanne Elizabeth (11 February 1933 – 5 July 2022)
Joanne Elizabeth Bottlemy passed away peacefully at her home on July 5, 2022.
She was born February 11, 1933, in Boscobel to Matt and Phyllis (Yunek) Rice.
She received her education in Wisconsin and Illinois schools. She married Warren
Bottlemy on February 18, 1950, at the Methodist Church in Hebron, Illinois. They
were blessed with six children Douglas, Ronald, Karen Sue, Gregory and Mark. The
Bottlemy’s farmed in Illinois until they moved to Clark County in December 1959
and retired in 1991. They were married 64 years until the time of Warren’s death
in 2013.
She was active in Clark County Home and Community Education service as Vice
President and Owen Withee Center Chairwoman. She belonged to Longwood Home
Makers for over 60 years, serving all offices several times. Joanne also served
as Chairwoman, P.R. Chairwoman and newsletter Chairwoman for the Clark County
Farm Bureau. She was chosen as Woman of Year for her work in the organization.
Along with these positions she also volunteered at the Health Care Center.
Joanne enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Canada in their 5th
wheel camper. Her hobbies included baking, knitting, sewing and crocheting.
Survivors include her four sons Douglas (Carol), Gregory, Mark of Owen and Kurt
of Rockford Illinois. As well as 15 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 8
great-great grandchildren a Sister Jean Heuvelman of Elk Grove Village Ill and a
sister-in-law in Illinois.
She is preceded in death by her husband Warren, her parents, and 2 children son
Ronald in 1980 and daughter Karen Sue in 1954, 3 brothers Don, Loren and Keith
Rice and 2 sisters Joyce Van de Bogart and Judy Gray.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at St.
John’s Lutheran Church in Withee with Pastor Jeff Kazmierski officiating. Family
and friends are welcome from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12,
2022, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Withee and 10:00 a.m. until time of
service on Wednesday. Maurina – Schilling Funeral Home of Owen is entrusted with
the arrangements.
