Trinity Lutheran Church in Eau Claire was the site for the Saturday late
afternoon wedding of Jacalyn Jean Schoenherr and Wayne Arnold Mercer. The Rev.
Jack Olson officiated. Parents of the couple are Adeline Schoenherr,
Neillsville; Theodore Schoenherr, Granton; and Marlene Mercer of Eau Claire and
Edwin Mercer, also of Eau Claire.
The couple wrote their own vows and created the service.
Shirley Schoenherr, a sister of the bride from Stevens Point, was maid of honor.
She was joined by Lana Hilmanowski, the groom’s sister from Eau Claire. Jim
Starks was best man whole Kevin Link was a groomsman; both are friends of the
groom from Eau Claire. Ushering were Scott Schoenherr, the bride’s brother of
Neillsville, and Todd Berg, a friend from Eau Claire.
Special music for the service included performances by the church soloist of
“The Wedding Song,” “I Love You” and “Growing Together.” The congregation sang
“Beautiful Savior” and “Amazing Grace.”
The bride chose an eggshell-hued, laced, floor-length gown featuring Juliet
sleeves, accented with satin ribbons. She wore a derby hat with fingertip veil,
accented with pastel forget-me-nots. Her attendants wore lavender-hued knit
gowns with spaghetti straps and an empire-style bodice; each wore a deep purple
crushed velvet cape trimmed with lavender Chantilly lace. They carried purple
and yellow carnations and wore yellow roses in their hair. The groom and his
attendants were attired in silver tuxedos.
Following the nuptials, a dinner was held at the church. This was followed by a
dance at the United Rubber worker’s Club in Eau Claire. The couple announced
that they would take a spring wedding trip to Yellowstone and the Dakotas.
The couple will make their home in the Eau Claire area. The bride is a 1977
graduate of Neillsville High School and is a teacher at the Jack and Jill
Nursery in Eau Claire. The groom graduated from Eau Claire Memorial High School
is a bartender at Corky’s Bar in Eau Claire.
