Paul Deming and Paul Nikolay, advised by Richard Thew, instructor at Abbotsford
High School, had the honor of representing the Abbotsford High School student
senate, at the National Association of Student Councils convention in Rochester,
Minnesota June 23 – 27, 1974.
The 38th annual convention was the largest ever, drawing more than 1,400
students, from every state in the union, including Puerto Rico and Guam. The
theme of the conference was unite-hare-and progress.
By attending workshops, seminars, and general sessions, featuring such prominent
speakers as An Armstrong, Michael Balzano, and Pam Powell, all advisors to
President Nixon, delegates attained valuable knowledge in student government and
student relationships in respective schools and community. Delegates also toured
Mayo Clinic and the city of Rochester.
