Graves, Spencer D. II (25 November 1956 – 18 July 2022)
Spencer D. Graves, age 65, of Spencer, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2022, at
Marshfield Medical Center.
Spencer David Graves was born on November 25, 1956, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in
Marshfield, the son of Spencer and P. Jean (Heckel) Graves. Upon graduating high
school, Spencer joined the United States Navy in 1975 being stationed on the USS
Dwight D. Eisenhower. He was honorably discharged in October of 1979. On
December 12, 1981, he was united in marriage to Mary Hebert at the United
Methodist Church in Spencer. He was employed by Marshfield Electric & Water for
11 years from 1979-1990 before then becoming a histology technician at the
Marshfield Clinic for 29 years from 1991-2020.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Spencer, now known as Faith
Journey Church.
Hobbies he enjoyed included hunting and fishing, tying flies for trout fishing
and going on his annual salmon fishing trip to Kewanee. His greatest loves were
his kids and grandkids, his “morning rides” with a stop of the Spencer Kwik Trip
and a good cup of coffee.
Those who will cherish his memory include his loving wife, Mary; his son, Elliot
(Hilary) Graves of Abbotsford; his daughter, Erica (special friend, David)
Graves of Spencer; his grandchildren, Landen Moore, Gunner Graves, Bowen Graves,
Mallory McCall and Atlas Graves; his godchildren, Skye Olstinski and Keith Buse;
his siblings, Greg (Val) Graves, Jeff (Julie) Graves and Sarah (Patrick)
Graves-Kraus along with many other relatives and friends.
Spencer was preceded in death by his parents, Spencer and P. Jean Graves and his
sisters: Jackie Graves and April Weaver; his beloved canine companion “Charlie
aka Bonehead”.
His funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Faith
Journey Church in Spencer with Rev. Kerry Wilson officiating. Following the
services, Military Honors conducted by members of the Loyal American Legion Post
175 will be presented. Committal services will be held privately in West Spencer
Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church on Saturday
from 11 A.M. until time of service. The honor of pallbearer belongs to Jeff
Graves, Greg Graves, Sarah Graves, Tom Kirschbaum, Jim Podevels, Jeff Hebert and
Kevin Buse.
If desired, memorials are being accepted by Spencer’s family for a charity yet
to be determined.
