Brown, Beth Ann (31 May 1974)

Zion Lutheran Church at Colby was the setting for the May 31, 1974 exchange of wedding vows as Randall Schultz took as his bride, Beth Ann Brown. Ronald Schultz, Eyota Minnesota, brother of the groom, and Rev. Roland Golz, Medford, officiated at the 7:30 p.m. wedding ceremony.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Brown, Route 2, Colby, and Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Schultze, Route 1, Colby.

Attending the bride were Miss Linda Diers, Neillsville, maid of honor, and Miss Angela Brown, sister of the bride, and Miss Mary Peissig, Dorchester, as bridesmaids.

Bill Gottschalk, Colby, served as best man, and Gregg Brown Colby, brother of the bride, and Bradley Schultz, brother of the groom, were groomsmen. Jack Flink, Colby and Michael Schultz, Fall River, brother of the groom, served as ushers.

The bride appeared in a gown of white satin accented with a scooped neck of Chantilly lace attached to the stand-up collar. The skirt fell full from a fitted midriff to a wide flounce and long graceful chapel train. A pearl headpiece secured her fingertip veil of Chantilly lace. Her gown was fashioned by her friend, Miss Mary Peissig, Dorchester. She carried a colonial bouquet of white mums, carnation, baby’s breath, ivy and pink stephanotis. Her only jewelry was a diamond pendant given to her by her grandparents.

The bride’s attendants wore pink and blue dotted Swiss over pink satin. Their hats were colonial style, trimmed with pink satin roses. They carried long stemmed pink mums.

Organist was Miss Cheryl Schulz, who played the processional, “Grand Chorus,” and the recessional, “Jublilate,” and accompanied the soloist, Miss Linda Schultz, who sang “Wedding Song” and “O Perfect Love.”

The church was decorated with lilacs and lily of the valley.

A reception and dance for approximately 150 guests was held at Dorchester Memorial Hall following the ceremony.

The groom is employed in construction work for the summer. He is a 1973 graduate of Colby High School and attended NCTI at Wausau in 1974, and will return to classes in the fall.

The bride is also a 1973 graduate of Colby High School and was a freshman at Marshfield – Wood County Campus during 1973-74. She will be a sophomore at the Marathon County campus this fall.

Following a wedding trip to Milwaukee, the couple will make their home at Colonial Gardens, Burch Road, Schofield.

Guests present were from Atwood, Athens, Abbotsford, Dorchester, Milan, Fall River, Wausau, Neillsville, Medford, and Lewiston and Albion, Michigan, Eyota, Minnesota, and Spencer and Ellettsville, Indiana.

A dinner for the wedding party and bride and groom’s families was held at the Redwood Supper club on Thursday evening before the wedding.
