Tom Rusch, a second-year student at Law School at the University of Wisconsin,
Madison, is employed as a summer law clerk by Nikolay, Jensen & Scott at the
Colby office.
The Wisconsin Bar association favors the practice and many law students use
their summers in this way. The experience gained in summer legal works help give
the student a balanced perspective of law before finishing school. A summer
clerk position is an opportunity to gain practival experience under the guidance
of an experienced attorney.
Working strictly for Frank Nikolay, Rush does the leg work on such matters as
examining abstracts and other preliminary legal work. All work is given a final
check by Rusch and Nikolay. His duties also include some legal research for the
firm.
Rusch, who owns property near Rib Lake, would like to settle in the Central
Wisconsin area upon completion of his schooling in two years.
A native of Milwaukee, he graduated from Brown Deer High School, attended
Lawrence University at Appleton, and taught Russian and German languages at
Appleton for two years.
After a three and one-half year hitch in the Navy, most which time was spent in
Japan, he was discharge in Japan, and enroute home traveled by motorcycle from
Bombay, India to London, England. Returning to the United States, he turned to
study in the field of Russian language, and entered law study at the UW-Madison
in the summer of 1973.
He was married to the former Mary Ann Guido of Flat Creek, Michigan, in 1972.
They now reside in Waterloo.
