Zoromski, Rita Irene (25 December 1943 – 23 July 2022)
Rita I. Zoromski, age 78, of Thorp, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at
the Clark County Rehab & Living Center in Owen.
Rita Irene Schank was born on December 25, 1943, in Arcadia, to Clarence J. and
Dorothy (Wicka) Schank. She was raised and received her education in
Independence. Rita attended technical college in Eau Claire, and received her
Associate Degree in Accounting. She was united in marriage to Rudolph L. "Rudy"
Zoromski on September 25, 1965, at St. Peter-St. Paul's Catholic Church in
Independence. Rita held various jobs throughout her life from accounting,
raising veal calves, operating a paint and appliance store in Thorp, working at
Weather Shield Windows, and at the Thorp Courier.
She will be remembered for her love of the outdoors, fishing, gardening, and
cooking. Rita loved being a grandma to numerous grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
She will be dearly missed by her three children: Dennis (Laurie) of Thorp,
William (Yvonne) of Appleton, and Karen (Jeff) Chmelik of Thorp; numerous
grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three brothers: Jerome (Marion) Schank of
Whitehall, and Willard (Celeste) Schank and Donald Schank, both of Independence;
two sisters: Elaine (Greg) LeGare of Osseo, and Celine Brandon of Stillwater,
MN; one sister-in-law: Sharon Schank of Altoona; many nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rudy, one son: Darren;
two brothers: Henry and Allen Schank; and one sister: Mary Ann Hergenreder.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at St.
Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp. Rev. Leo Johnson will officiate,
and burial will follow in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held
at the church, on Saturday, from 9 a.m. until time of service.
The family would like to express a very special thanks to all the staff at Clark
