Korth, Charles A. (1 April 1888 – 1 November 1981)
A farmer in the Town of Grant, Charles A. Korth, died in Neillsville Memorial
Hospital on Sunday, November 1, after a brief illness. He was 93 and a resident
of Neillsville Memorial Home, since 1977.
Korth was born on April 1, 1888, in Lake Mills to William and Augusta (Jahr)
Korth. He received his education in Jefferson County schools and then moved with
his parents to Clark County. He and a brother, Leo, moved to North Dakota where
they farmed for several years, returning to Clark County where he farmed in the
Town of Grant for many years. After retiring he moved to Neillsville. He was a
member of Zion Lutheran Church of Granton.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon, November 4, from the Gesche
Funeral Home in Neillsville. The Rev. Gary Clark officiated with burial made in
the Neillsville City Cemetery. The Gesche Funeral Home was in charge of the
arrangements.
Serving as pallbearers were Wilbert Korth, Howard Olson, Kenneth Goetz, Donald,
Robert and Ervin Knoop. Special music was offered by Lori Anding and Deon
Spangler.
Korth never married. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Alice Knoop, Neillsville;
and two brothers, Leo of Neillsville and Emil of Cambridge. He was preceded in
death by his brother, Louie.
Attending the services from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Emil Korth and Mr. and
Mrs. Wilbert Korth, all of Cambridge; Myrtle Korth and Mike Schaefer, both of
Marshfield; Margaret Ralph and Karen Sternitzky, both of Fall Creek; Mr. and
Mrs. Ray Barth, Whitewater; Mr. and Mrs. Victor Capaul, Alma Center; and Mr. and
Mrs. Donald Knoop, Cedar Falls, Iowa.
